My name is Morgan and I'm the owner and founder of Newberry College Coaching LLC. Our mission is to bridge the gap between high school and college by helping rising seniors with the college application process. Parents, applying to college has changed quite a bit since you may have applied, and at times, it can feel overwhelming, and most schools don't have the resources or the time to assist students with their applications. Oftentimes, it ends up becoming a solo project for the student and top of school work, it can be A LOT!
But that's where I come in. I want to help your student create the best application possible giving them the best chance they can of getting into competitive colleges! Your student will receive 1:1 assistance from me, where I will personally guide them through the college application process. An advantage most don't have.
Your student and I will have weekly 1 hour sessions that are completely remote and based around the student's schedule in order to not interfere with school or other extracurricular activities! You pick the day, you pick the time!
Our first 2-4 sessions focus on creating a balanced list of 10 colleges with an equal amount of Safety, Match, and Reach schools. This is what we will use as our roadmap for how to approach the rest of our sessions. Depending on the schools on your list, the amount of essays/requirements will change.
On average, students will write about 15+ essays for all of the colleges on their list, so we will spend the bulk of our sessions writing, revising, and editing essays from start to finish. This means brainstorming ideas together and receiving personalized feedback.
This is the application portal where you will actually submit your applications, and it can be lengthy! It asks you everything from basic demographics to all the classes you've ever taken in high school. We will spend 1-2 sessions filling this out.
A crucial step for both students and parents! This is how colleges determine how much financial aid to give you. There's a form for the students to fill out, and a form for the parents, and both must be completed in order to submit the FAFSA. We will spend 1-2 sessions filling this out.
After it's all said and done, scholarship searching will be our last step! We'll hunt for scholarships, write essays, and apply to as many as possible!
Don't know what you want to study in college? No worries! We'll figure it out together
A resume isn't just for finding a job. Some colleges will ask for a resume and a list of extracurricular activities. By starting as a junior, you're already ahead of the game!
Colleges like to to make sure students have a diverse portfolio of extracurricular activities, so the summer before senior year is a great time to find something to add to the list!
Junior year is the perfect time to get ready for college applications! We'll focus on things like finding teachers to do your recommendations, scheduling college visits/college fairs, finding community service work, and searching for scholarships.
